This Elegy in memory of my father, Rex Hargadine, who like me, and like his father before him, was a musician.

A short biography of him is included here.

When Poppa died, I had been writing much different music than what appears on this page,

but my grief was such that I could do nothing but what here appears before you.

I spent about five months writing it.    It's a 45-minute string symphony in nine movements.
